Who we are

‘We’ are Derek, an individual blogger, author, and Freelance Writer.  Professional-Writer.co.uk is the website.

I know that privacy policies aren’t the most thrilling read but if you could read this one then I would really appreciate it.

I am committed to maintaining your trust and confidence when you visit my website.  In particular, I want you to know that I will NEVER sell, rent or trade your information with other companies, businesses, individuals, or bloggers for marketing purposes.  I don’t agree with it on principle.

However, if you are still concerned read on to understand why I collect your personal information, how I use it, any conditions under which I may disclose it to others and how I keep it secure.

Types of Data we collect

Website Cookies

On my website I use cookies to collect information.  This includes information about browsing behaviour by people who access the website, mainly, information about the pages you view and your journey around our websites. Detailed information is set out in my Cookie Policy.

Google Analytics & Jetpack Statistics

When you visit Professional-Writer.co.uk, I use a third party service, StatCounter, to collect standard internet log information and details of your behaviour patterns.  I do this to find out thing such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the website. This information is only processed in a way which will not identify you. I do not make, and do not allow StatCounter to make, any attempt to find out your identity.  If you would like further information about StatCounter please visit the StatCounter Privacy Policy.

Mailing Lists

As part of the registration process for my email newsletter, I collect personal information.  I use that information for a few reasons:

• To tell you about the latest posts on my website.
• To contact you if I need to obtain or provide additional information.
• To confirm that my records are right.
• To check every now and then that you are happy and satisfied.
• I DO NOT rent or trade or sell my email lists with ANYONE.

I will use a third party provider, MailChimp, to deliver my newsletter.  I gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help monitor and improve my newsletter.  If you wish to find out more then please read MailChimp’s privacy notice.

You can unsubscribe from the updates at any time you wish by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of my emails or by simply emailing me.

Access to your personal information

You are entitled to view, amend, or delete the personal information that we hold about you.  To request this information please email Derek at derek@professional-writer.co.uk.
